Week 12 Grab Your Balls

Week 12

My normal 0600hrs start was suddenly 0700hrs due to Daylight Saving (Summer Time) starting today...

So, lots of things to think about - the boat, mowing, vegie garden, general tidying up. Reminding me of just how lucky I am to have our volunteer/helper on the (limited) payroll.

We still have April to get through - the local saying is "Ah Pril doet wat 't wil" (April pronounced Ah-Pril) meaning April does whatever it wants to - weatherwise. But who knows these days? We've just had a surprisingly pleasant March.

I'm reading a lot on Bluesky and Politico (Europe) lately...

Barry and I used to have an Australian book "The Superior Person's Little Book of Words" I've never forgotten one of the author's notes "one can only ask, can such things be?"...
has to apply here (and just about everything else coming out of America these days)

You can get 7 Super natural blessings for a whole year for $1000 from the President’s spiritual advisor (Paula White), while at the same time the White House cuts all funding for worldwide vaccinations for childhood diseases like polio that save the lives of children. Yep.

According to White, God will (1) “assign an angel to you,” (2) “be an enemy to your enemies,” (3) “give you prosperity,” (4) “take sickness away from you,” (5) “give you a long life,” (6) “bring increase and inheritance,” and (7) “give a special year of blessing.”

It's only for a year, so presumably they have to do the same again next year...

Meanwhile, around the farm (thankfully)...

Through our atelier window - about 200 metres at the back - a bird of prey, sitting on the pole.
The smaller birds are nesting (in our nesting boxes) much closer - it is sometimes mesmerising just to watch them go about their business - we have a couple of books at hand to try to identify what sort.

I'm also working on a couple of new boxes - just have to figure out how to make them waterproof...

The numbers are up for the firewood sheds...

One of the clients has started painting (staining) the fencing poles and rails... we think it will look pretty good when we get it done - we need 30 poles for just the roadside bit.

Bit of an odd-spot. We have 3 students coming one day a week to do a school project "at a Care institution" - they are actually studying to become qualified Florists - the course also has "Styling" in the title and there is a "Care" component. It is certainly something different for us - and much appreciated by the clients...

2 weeks ago they did a "Games" afternoon and last week they helped the clients make vegetable soup (which we ate the next day). Next week they'll be making (teaching?) cupcakes.

They had to make a presentation booklet for the school...(one of the participants lives in one of our apartments, so it was easy for her to organise everything).

We got the second row of fencing out...also with a few casualties...

On Thursday, Ankie had a day off so Janny had to work...but she had a couple of meetings planned so I had to step in to be with the clients - I took them for a walk (so Tjeerd did most of the fencing on his own!).

and then the highlight of the week - a night out with Janny's brothers and sisters and the "better halves".

A huge restaurant(s) and games centre about half an hour away. We all put money away each month (for about 30 years now) and every now and then one couple arranges a night (or day) out. Difficult to remember them all now - indoor skiing, go-karting, 70's night out, a day on Texel (Frisian Island) a few dinners...

This one was a series of games - we divided into 3 groups of four and went through a series (about 20) of challenges - the games all had electronic scoring and time limits - again too many to remember.

We finished off with dinner in one of the restaurants - and then a relatively early night home.

An outing with happy moments
