Week 14 Epic voyage with the boat
Week 14
Lucky enough to be writing this on the boat this week...on Saturday evening...and posting from home on Sunday.
You can see from the flags that the wind was blowing onshore - it was strong enough that all I had to do was reverse out of our mooring and then let the wind blow us ashore - so, the Epic Voyage was every bit of 13 metres with the motor...
Lots of work to do - mostly cleaning inside and out ("things go green")- navigation lights on, ropes and electricity cables tidied up - bedding on board - outside table and chairs. I even treated a nasty looking rust spot on the deck...
I also discovered that my bowthruster batteries have to be replaced - after 8 years. They probably have the most heavy work to do - the solar panels keep all the batteries charged, even over the winter. I've had to replace the house batteries once and now for the second time the 2 bowthruster batteries (set up as 24 Volt). I shouldn't say it out loud but the motor starter battery has continued working for 16 years now without me once having to look at it :-)
We went to the regular Saturday morning street market in Heerenveen...I quite often send Paul a "Proof of Life" photo and this time a bird flew in just as I took it...definitely looks fake, but I was just lucky...

Around the farm...
First pumpkin seeds (Cheryl brought some over from Oz)
Finishing off the framing for the roof of the garden shed - 100% made of recycled materials (except for the screws).
That was mostly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon...
on Thursday morning, Tjeerd and I went to get the boat in the water at Heerenveen...
I had no TV coverage of the footy on Friday, so we took off early for the boat for a bit of relaxation despite all the work to be done - it's too enjoyable and satsifying to call it work...
From the back deck of our 'holiday house" in Heerenveen on Friday evening
I've been using BlueSky as a social media source (until it gets corrupted, abused or misused like all the rest) - there seems to be a heap of bird photos (fortunately not many cat or food photos yet). One wag put up a photo of an empty tree with the bird he was "just too late for".
As we went for a walk around the boat haven we saw a wild pheasant on the track - but I was also too late for a photo :-)
